“You don’t need to have the right words. You can come exactly as you are.”

First Responders & Frontline Workers

First responders and frontline professionals face crises every day. You move through emergencies with composure, make split-second decisions, and hold steady for others , often at the cost of your own well-being. It’s common to compartmentalize, keep going, or minimize what you’ve experienced, even as the weight builds over time. Occupational stress, PTSD, and moral injury are frequent realities in these roles.

You may notice:

  • Trouble slowing down, resting, or feeling at ease

  • Emotional numbness or feeling “shut off”

  • Irritability, anger, or intense stress reactions

  • Feeling constantly “on guard” or hypervigilant

  • Difficulty trusting others with what you carry

  • Flashbacks, intrusive memories, or vivid trauma reminders

  • Sleep disruptions, nightmares, or restless nights

These experiences are common, and you don’t have to face them alone. At Hemlock & Haven Therapy, I provide trauma-informed support specifically for first responders and frontline professionals, helping you process stress, restore emotional balance, and reconnect with your life outside of work.

Using approaches like:

  • CPT: helps shift unhelpful thoughts that keep stress alive

  • Somatic therapy: works with body sensations to calm a stuck stress response

  • Nervous system regulation: builds grounding skills to feel safer in daily life

Why Specialized Care Matters

First responders and frontline professionals face stress and trauma that most people will never encounter. Traditional therapy may not fully address the cumulative impact of repeated crises, moral injury, or occupational stress. Specialized care through being a Wounded Warriors approved provider recognizes the unique challenges of your role, offering support that meets you where you are , honouring your resilience while providing tools to process trauma, reduce hypervigilance, and reclaim balance in your life.

Trauma & PTSD
Whether your experiences were recent or long ago, trauma can leave you feeling on alert, shut down, or disconnected from yourself and others. Together, we’ll work gently and at your pace, helping you feel safer in your body, rebuild trust in your inner world, and reconnect with a sense of steadiness.

ADHD & Neurodiversity-Affirming Support
I provide support that honours how your brain works rather than trying to change it. We’ll explore emotional regulation, identity, burnout, masking, and self-acceptance, while finding ways of living that feel aligned and sustainable.

Chronic Pain & Health Challenges
Living with pain or health issues can be exhausting and isolating. I offer a space to acknowledge the grief, frustration, and complexity that can come with these experiences, while building compassion, resilience, and supportive coping strategies.

Stress, Burnout & Overwhelm
If you’re used to being the one who holds it all together, you don’t have to do it alone here. We’ll work to soften self-pressure, explore boundaries, and rebuild your capacity to rest, feel, and breathe again.

In therapy, we create a space where you don’t have to explain the culture, justify your reactions, or reassure anyone that you’re strong. I meet you with respect and steadiness without pressure to open up faster than feels right. Together, we work toward making room for your experiences, rebuilding connection to yourself, and creating a life that feels less like survival and more like living.

You have given a great deal. Here, you don’t have to hold it alone.
